Health Nugget

Dear friends, as you are aware, we are currently living in a complex and challenging world. Economists, scientists, and people around the globe have recognized that an economic crisis is looming, which will have an impact on everyone. Our food sources are being depleted, and the planet is being affected in numerous ways. Fortunately, our Creator has given us the solution to this impending crisis.

“Whenever possible, it is the duty of parents to make homes in the country for their children. Fathers and mothers who possess a piece of land and a comfortable home are kings and queens. … Again and again the Lord has instructed that our people are to take their families away from the cities, into the country, where they can raise their own provisions; for in the future the problem of buying and selling will be a very serious one.” Adventist Home p. 141

I encourage you to try growing your own food. There is nothing better than eating from your own garden, where you know the food is free of chemicals. Eating fruits and vegetables in season has great benefits. They contain a higher concentration of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Additionally, the produce is fresher and tastier because the longer it sits on a shelf or in a warehouse, the more nutrients it loses.

We should be grateful for the fruit that God has made available in our own part of the country and avoid the exported stuff. Recently, we had a lot of delicious mangoes that we picked by the barrel load. We made jam and dehydrated a bunch. Now it’s citrus season, and we are drinking fresh orange juice every morning with a spoonful of chia seeds. It’s delicious, and it’s good for you.
